Meet the Simkhai Family, Creators of the Loxove Jewelry Line

JQ International is proud to have creative and passionate supporters like Orna and Benny Simkhai in our community. The Simkhais, parents of gay sons, developed a new unisex jewelry line called Loxove, designed to express infinite love and support for the LGBTQ+ community. JQ recently visited with the Simkhais to discuss their activism, inspiration, and commitment to LGBTQ+ equality.

We hope you enjoy getting to know the Simkhais and their beautiful Loxove line of jewelry as much as we love having them as part of our wonderful community.

What inspired you to launch Loxove?
As parents of gay children who grew up in a family of jewelers, we wanted to create a beautiful way to publicly share that we are either proud allies or proud members of the LGBTQ+ community. Our goal with Loxove was to create a symbol of pride and solidarity, and our son Amir helped us to design these sleek and versatile pieces that people could wear, communicating infinite love and support for their LGBTQ+ friends, family, and community!

What does being an ally mean to you?
Being an ally means being a support whenever and wherever possible. It’s being there to show we care, and when one can’t be in the presence of those they support, it’s raising your voice and making sure to spread the good word about the issues you care about. We will only bring about the change we hope to make possible if we are open and present about our belief in full equality for all LGBTQ+ people.

What message do you want to send to kids, parents, and the community at large about supporting LGBTQ equality?
We must support the people we love in every way we can and one step at a time. Offer moral support, emotional support, spiritual support, or whatever your people need, and make sure to do so with endless unconditional love. Make sure the LGBTQ+ people in your life KNOW you love them. Say it a lot and often. Communicate their specialness to them directly. In this way, we support equality while elevating the precious and unique hearts, minds, and souls of those we love.
